Mental Health Practice – Comprehensive Children & Family Services
Comprehensive Children & Family Services has provided behavioral health services to northwest Pennsylvania for more than 20 years. Office locations include a main office in Sharon serving Mercer County, a New Castle office covering Lawrence, Beaver, and Butler Counties, a Meadville office serving Crawford and Venango Counties, and a location in Ellwood City. The organization focuses exclusively on children, youth, and young adults under age 21 who present with mental, emotional, or behavioral health needs.
Services are organized within the Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) framework and divided into three primary categories. Individual Services include Behavior Consultant assessments, Mobile Therapy delivered in the client’s home, school, or community environment, and Behavioral Health Technician support for the daily implementation of therapeutic plans. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Services are provided by Behavior Analytic consultants and trained technicians who assess each client’s needs, analyze environmental factors contributing to behavioral patterns, and develop Individualized Treatment Plans (ITPs) to guide ongoing intervention.
Group Services encompass Group ABA sessions, School-Based Programs embedded within educational settings, After School Programs available outside regular school hours, and a Summer Therapeutic Activities Program (STAP) for eligible youth. A specialized Autism and PDD Program provides a support network of information and consulting services with a focus on building self-esteem, self-sufficiency, and age-appropriate social skills. A parent support group is offered for families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, structured around clinical staff presentations and supervised child care during meetings.
All services are described as delivered in a culturally sensitive manner tailored to the individual needs of each child and family. Staff receive ongoing training in therapeutic practice, first aid, appropriate restraint procedures, and confidentiality requirements. Services are conducted in homes, schools, and community settings across the region.
The multi-county footprint, spanning Mercer, Lawrence, Beaver, Butler, Crawford, Venango, and surrounding areas, positions the organization as a regional resource across a broad section of northwestern Pennsylvania. In-home, school-based, and community-based delivery ensures clients receive services in the settings where their needs are most directly present.
